Cook the beans: Bring a pot of salted water to a boil.Note: Ingredient quantities and full instructions are in the recipe card at the end of this post. Shallot: finely chopped shallot is sauteed and added to the green beans for flavour. If you want to make this vegan, you can use olive oil instead. Butter: Adds so much flavour to this dish.Almond slices: these get toasted up in a pan with butter for a nutty, delicious flavour. If you are in a pinch, you can use frozen but try to use fresh if you can for the best flavour and crisper texture. Green beans: Fresh haricot vert beans are best when it comes to this dish.Green Beans Almondine is a favourite for a Thanksgiving or Christmas side dish, though it also has made an appearance for Easter too. The beauty of this dish is that it is elegant enough to be served at a special meal too. That makes it perfect for a last minute side dish for a weeknight meal or even a fancy dinner party. Its simple and fresh, and we usually have everything we need on hand! Of all the green bean dishes we have made, this classic Green Beans Almondine recipe is one that makes a frequent appearance in our kitchen. They pair so beautifully with any protein or even vegetarian meal so its no surprise they make it to our table often. While they do occasionally get featured as the star in our meal, such as in dishes like Fasolakia (Greek Green Beans), more often then not they are the perfect side dish. They are one of my favourite vegetables and so versatile and fun to work with.

That "CLOSES" the Big Boy or makes the circuit. The Diesel2 checks for voltage on BOTH batteries and there is some magic and if the "charging" or Bi-Directional conditions are correct.then the BIRD Diesel2 sends a signal to the Big Boy. The version of the Big Boy that Monaco used in 2009 was a 12VDC 200 Amp relay. as well as MEMORY (there MAY or probably WAS a Latching Version of the Big Boy.this control is not, I think, designed to be used with that one) There was an original BIRD (relay controller) that was NOT the Diesel 2. Larry Laursen is actually the MOST knowledgeable person on the history of how Monaco tried to cobble up Bi-Directional capability.starting way back with the Lambert and some Trombetta variations. The Diesel2 was designed to be used with the "latest" version of the Intellitec Big Boy. The Good Dr (Richard Smith), I think, has a similar setup.įROM the top. For the RECORD.The Intelltec Tech Support Crew, who has spoken to the Gathering a few times, says that the older MH's were overly complicated. You need someone that is handy with a VOM and you need to chase the new wires. Never, EVER (even me) trust anyone's "rewiring" or a Tech's. My experience might not help.but I can tell you that I have the SAME Diesel2 Relay or controller. The pdf RJ Chapman posted with troubleshooting steps should help figure things out. The replaced relay in the photos is in the front electrical bay. I guess this is what controls the Trombetta or Big Boy relay. An earlier owner of my 2005 HR Scepter apparently replaced whatever Monaco had installed (see photo with 3 clipped wires from the Isolator Relay Delay) for an Isolator Delay controller and replaced it with an Intellitec bi-directional isolator delay relay 00-00839-000. I still don't understand what my coach is doing (see earlier post - same topic), but I thought these photos might help others. Let me know how you resolve this, as it might apply to me, too.Ġ6 Dip wiring -dip_chassis_12v.pdf 2005 Camelot wiring diagrams.pdf I have attached a one page electrical diagram for a Diplomat, and a many page electrical document for a 2005 HR Scepter, of which many of the diagrams are for more that just the Scepter. Some time ago I was diddling with the Trombetta relay and found it would pull in a few minutes AFTER I started the coach engine, and that seems consistent with the system making sure the chassis batteries are fully charged before switching to charging the coach batteries. So maybe my system is working OK but I don't know it. ) Once I arrive at my destination, my monitor says the coach batteries are practicality fully charged, or are at 100%, which shouldn't be so if they have been discharging all day. Then the discharge is more like 4 to 6 amps PLUS 80% of what my solar panels show they are putting out (which all seems backward. I can drive all day and the Alladin monitor show a 4 or 6 amp discharge all day from my coach batteries unless my solar panels are charging, too. I have similar issues, but I am not sure what is happening. Getting ready to get on the road for the summer soon and need to get this repaired. Everything is normal except for the house battery charging.Īnyone know where I can obtain a wiring diagram of my 06 Windsor? If I had that, I could locate the problem.Īnyone know a repair facility anywhere in the country that I could call to find the answer? What I need to know is, where does the power source come from that activates the relay when the engine is running? The alternator was just rebuilt and is outputting normally. In other words, the relay should close when either the Boost switch is pressed or automatically when the engine is running. The problem is, when the engine is running, the relay should be receiving another power source that closes the relay like the "Batt Boost" switch does. It closes when the "Batt Boost" switch on the dash is pressed when the engine is running and when it is not, as it was designed. I've done as much trouble shooting as possible and have determined that the Trombetta/Bear paralleling relay is not defective. My house batteries do not charge when the engine is running. If you click on this image for a full-size view, you will see ugly artifacts in the deep reds, almost like dirt soiling the colors of the flower. In order to emulate the Astia rendering of the in-camera JPEG engine, we need to make some changes. Uh-oh! While this default rendering proves that claims about X-Trans sensors being incapable of delivering saturated reds are wrong, this is obviously not the result that we had in mind. How can we do it? Let’s play it through! Here’s the RAW file as it looks in Silkypix 5 with the software’s default settings: What matters is that many of those who like their own JPEGs with Fuji colors would often also like to achieve similar looking results with external third-party RAW converters like Silkypix or the free RAW File Converter EX (which is an older version 3 of Silkypix). Some people may like it, some may not, it doesn’t matter. We now have an image with quite distinct “Fuji Colors”. This was a hand-held macro shot, so I used the smallest available AF field size and moved it precisely over the area I wanted to be in-focus. Here’s the less color saturated Astia JPEG of this shot, straight from the camera’s built-in RAW converter:Īs usual, click on the image for a full-size view. Clearly, too much color saturation in the reds goes at the cost of image detail, so we are better off using a saturation setting of -2 (aka “low” when you are using the internal RAW converter). The color settings used here were -2 (left), 0 (center) and +2 (right). Here’s a magnified view of our Astia shot, showing three different color saturation level settings that can be applied either in the shooting menu or when (re-)developing the RAW file in-camera: A typical problem of mono-colored subjects like this one are overflowing RGB color channels, in this case the red color channel. Let’s decide for Astia at this time, as it offers a very distinct purple-red rendering of the flower, with smooth highlights and nice contrast in the darker shadows. Remember, this is all the same shot, just developed with different film simulation modes in the camera’s internal RAW converter (aka JPEG engine). You can click on the image for a hi-res view, but even if you don’t, you can clearly see that Fuji’s different film modes can deliver quite distinct results. Hi and a Lightroom development that looks like something in-between Provia and Pro Neg. The top row is showing Provia, Astia and Velvia, the bottom row shows Pro Neg. This example was shot with an X-Pro1 and the Fujinon XF 60mm Macro prime lens at f/4.0, 1/480s and ISO 200. Here’s a practical example illustrating the five different film simulation modes: Std and Hi deliver accurate and pleasant skin tones, with “Std” acting as the neutral option and “Hi” as the one giving additional pop and contrast. Instead, you get modern, state-of-the art color gradations that feature key qualities of their vintage role models: Provia is a more-or-less neutral all-purpose film mode, Astia delivers more distinct “Fuji Colors” with added pop in the shadows and smooth highlights, while Velvia offers high-contrast JPEGs with strong, saturated colors. Make no mistake: These aren’t accurate recreations of analog films. X-Trans sensor cameras feature five different color film modes, named after famous analog slide and negative FUJIFILM brands: Provia, Astia, Velvia, Pro Neg. The heart of these colors are the different film simulations Fuji’s cameras are offering in either the shooting menu or in the camera’s internal RAW converter. Obviously, people either love it, hate it or are just plain ignorant about it, but if you belong to the “I love it” crowd, there’s a good chance that “Fuji Colors” have played a role when you made your decision to buy an X-series camera. It’s often noted that Fujifilm’s built-in JPEG engine is one of the best in the entire industry. Let’s take a look at colors, so-called “Fuji Colors” in particular. Big deal! But for those who are still interested in LR4.4RC, I have updated my RAW converter comparison set on Flickr with several new renderings. After all, what’s the big story? It took Adobe a full year to get their paying customers what the free RAW File Converter EX software and Fuji’s internal JPEG engine delivered from day one: decent X-Trans demosaicing quality. Since pretty much everybody wrote about Lightroom 4.4RC in the past few days, I won’t. Read the question, then reread it to make sure you understand all that is being asked of you. Take the time to understand the exact requirements of each prompt. Though you will be scored according to the specific content of each prompt’s rubric, you will be broadly scored based on how well you analyze and organize your responses.
What’s an even bigger issue with this old style unity-gain FET bypass? Now factor in that there are two FETs per pedal required to couple the IN & OUT path, that’s an obvious loss of between 1dB-2dB per pedal. This loss of gain is in the low-Mids and Bass frequencies, resulting in that “tinny” sound now that the highs remained and some of the bass and mids are gone. What’s the issue with unity-gain FET buffered bypass?Īlthough my ears always told me that it sounded “tinny” and that there was signal loss, with the help of a my favorite Electronic Engineer (using some very expensive test equipment) we recently documented that each unity-gain FET buffer actually cuts the gain somewhere between 0.3 to 0.6 dB. It reduces the loading effect that occurs using long lengths of cable, and you remove the loud “popping” sound when switching the device on and off. What’s the benefit to unity-gain FET buffered bypass? a couple of Field effect Transistors (FETs) configured as unity-gain buffers ala Boss, Ibanez, etc, etc. What’s the pedal industries’ solution to this problem for the last 40 years? There can be so much signal loss that it sounds nothing like the sound of a guitar with a cable straight into the front of a great tube amp. Everything’s different now, most guitarists have elaborate pedalboards with 10 or more pedals being the norm, and tremendous potential for signal and tone loss with the many cables, connectors, and other pedals involved in the chain. True-Bypass (TB) switching was the ultimate way to achieve a clean signal path for many years. No other company offers EB…I invented it. NEW FEATURE Internal switch to choose between ” Enhanced Bypass TM” & True-Bypass, and with no popping sound in either mode. NEW FEATURE Class A configured discrete 2N5457 JFET input section, raising the input impedance to 1 mega ohms (previously 330K) and increasing the dynamics…resulting in significantly better interaction with both single coil and humbuckers. This buffer also had a positive effect on the sound, it reduced loading on the pedal’s hard-clipping stage, allowing more sustain of both the sound and the overtones. Translation, your sound remains consistent regardless of placement in today’s more complex signal-chains, loopers, and pedalboards. NEW FEATURE output buffer (when pedal is turned on in True-Bypass mode, or always when in Enhanced Bypass mode) which eliminates it from being influenced by effects that came after it. On we released a very new OCD, different enough that it warrants a V2 designation, an explanation and warrants a trip to your favorite dealer to give it another listen. Not a subtle change when turned on… not a subtle change when turned off (in E.B. The OCD has received many slight tweaks over the last 12 years, often incorrectly identified as “version 2, Version 3, V4, etc.” In reality there has always been only one version…Version 1, with very slight variations after that making them V1.1 through V1.7. If the nail technician preps the nail correctly and performs a dry manicure prior to gel, it will definitely make the life of the gel manicure last longer.” I’ve been using some specific techniques for a few years, and it has definitely worked for me and many of my clients. Gel lasts longest with the right quality products and techniques. Or you can simply use a hard gel to achieve the same goal.” Which process is the longest-lasting? Gracie J: “It depends on a few factors, such as what works best with the clients’ nails? How well is the nail stylist prepping the nails? is the quality of the product? Different things work for different people.” Elizabeth: “Most of the time, with my clients, it’s a gel manicure. You can use a nail tip to apply over the free edge of the nail, then layering the SNS in increments. The artist is able to take the time that is necessary to hand-draw or use certain tools, without having to worry about the nail drying quickly.” Are nail extensions achievable with SNS or gel nails as well? Gracie J: “Extensions can be achieved with either method. That way you can manipulate the gel and work at your own pace because of the drying process.” Elizabeth: “The best method for nail art is gel, in my opinion. Which method is the best for nail art? Gracie J: “Any of these methods can be used as a base for nail art, but nail art is best created when using gels with a thicker viscosity. There should ideally be zero damage to the nail, regardless of the medium that one uses, if the gel is removed properly and not aggressively.” Shellac is slightly thinner, soaks off faster, and does no damage to the natural nail. Gel polish can last three to four weeks and is slightly thicker. Shellac is a brand from CND that makes gel polishes, but the Shellac brand differs from other gels in formula.” Elizabeth: “Gel is one of the many mediums that you can use to create an enhancement on your nail or to create nail art. It’s formulated to last longer than regular nail polish and soaked off using acetone. SNS is used with a special resin and activator to harden it, acrylic is used with a liquid monomer and a brush to create a bead that you then shape.” What is gel, and how does it differ from Shellac? Gracie J: “Gel is a polish that’s hardened or cured using a UV or LED light. An acrylic system requires a liquid monomer and powder polymer combined to create an overlay or extension, both on the natural nail.” Elizabeth: “SNS and acrylic are basically made out of the same chemicals. What is SNS, and how does it differ from acrylic? Gracie J: “SNS is the Signature Nail Systems brand using a dipping-powder method, which requires an adhesive or gel base to bind the powder to the nail. of The Editorial Nail (and lead manicurist for the show Claws), and Elizabeth Garcia, celebrity nail artist and owner of the The Nail Room in Astoria, Queens-to get the lowdown on everything manicure-related so you can make the right decision the next time you need to accessorize your talons. So what else was my manicurist hiding from me? Was I really missing out by not knowing anything but my beloved acrylic nail extensions? So I reached out to two of the best in the biz-Gracie J. This got me to thinking-first of all, what in the world is SNS? It stands for Signature Nail Systems and is a method of powder dipping for a long-lasting finish. Besides the traditional polish and top coat, there are a multitude of different methods you can use to achieve your dream look, including gel, acrylic, and the lesser known SNS.
